Description
Zernograd is an air base of the Russian Aerospace Forces located in Zernograd, Rostov Oblast, Russia. The air base was built in 1969 and has been in continuous use since then. It is owned by the Ministry of Defence and operated by the Russian Aerospace Forces, under the control of the 4th Air and Air Defence Forces Army. The base is currently home to the 16th Army Aviation Brigade. Historically, it also hosted the 106th Training Aviation Regiment from 1969 to 1995 and the 286th independent Helicopter Squadron for Electronic Warfare from 1992 to 1998. The airfield features one concrete runway.
