Chang Feng

The Chang Feng submachine gun was developed by Chongqing ChangFeng Co. Ltd. Designer Qing Shangsheng initiated the project between 1993 and 1994 as a private endeavor. The design was later submitted to the People’s Liberation Army for a suppressed submachine gun requirement. After the initial prototype lost the domestic contract to the QCW-05 in 2001, the manufacturer transitioned the project toward the export market. The weapon underwent several design iterations to improve ergonomics and reliability, with the final prototype finalized in May 2005. It is marketed for export by Norinco under the designation CS/LS06.

The firearm utilizes a blowback-operated action and fires from a closed, telescoped bolt that wraps around the barrel. It features a polymer receiver and is equipped with a helical magazine mounted on the top of the weapon. This magazine system uses internal helical glide grooves to feed ammunition as the glide rotates around a central axis. Early prototypes featured a dual-feed system with a secondary magazine in the pistol grip, but this was removed to reduce the possibility of malfunctions. The barrel is threaded for suppressor attachment, and the weapon includes a collapsible stock. Current production models incorporate modified polymer furniture, a front pistol grip, a modified trigger guard, and pictographic selector markings.

The weapon entered service in 2005 and is employed by the People's Police and the People's Armed Police within China. International users include Myanmar and the Uganda National Police. In Venezuela, the firearm is issued to the Army’s 509 Special Forces Battalion, the Presidential Honor Guard, and the Special Unit for Security and Protection of State Personalities. Primary variants include the original domestic prototype, the QC-9, the finalized CF-05, and the CS/LS06 export model.
