Description
The Kheibar, also designated Khorramshahr-4, is a medium-range ballistic missile that represents the fourth generation of the Khorramshahr family of missiles. The missile's dual naming is symbolic; "Khorramshahr" honors the city central to that conflict, while "Kheibar" references a historically significant 7th-century battle.
Engineered as a tactical medium-range ballistic missile, the Kheibar is propelled by a liquid-fuel rocket engine. It possesses a substantial operational range and is designed to deliver a large conventional warhead, with a payload capacity reported to be between 1,500 and 1,800 kilograms. The Kheibar missile system officially entered service in 2023 and is operated by the armed forces of Iran.
