Description
Lada-class (Project 677) diesel-electric submarine commissioned on 31 January 2024 and assigned to the Northern Fleet. Kronshtadt is the first serial-production unit of the class, following the troubled prototype Sankt Peterburg which spent over a decade in trials before being decommissioned. Laid down in 2005, the 1,765-tonne submarine features an improved combat management system and reduced acoustic signature compared to the Kilo class. Armed with torpedoes and mines, Kronshtadt is expected to eventually receive Kalibr cruise missiles after further testing.
