Description
Commissioned on 24 July 2025 in a ceremony attended by President Vladimir Putin, marking the induction of the fifth Project 955A Borei-A nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarine. Built at Sevmash in Severodvinsk, Knyaz Pozharsky carries 16 R-30 Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles with MIRV warheads. The Borei-A class offers improved stealth, survivability, and missile capacity over earlier variants. Putin announced during the ceremony that six additional nuclear submarines will be commissioned by 2030. Knyaz Pozharsky was assigned to the Northern Fleet for strategic deterrence patrols in the Arctic.
