Third Suffren-class (Barracuda) nuclear attack submarine, commissioned at Toulon on 4 July 2025. Construction began at Cherbourg in 2011, the reactor reached initial criticality in April 2024, and sea trials commenced in July 2024. Delivered by the DGA on 16 November 2024 after just four months of sea trials. At 99 metres and 4,700 tonnes, the Barracuda class carries MdCN cruise missiles, Exocet SM39 anti-ship missiles, and F21 torpedoes. Tourville's commissioning marks the halfway point of the six-boat programme replacing the aging Rubis class.
