Description
A Ghadir-class midget submarine was destroyed near the Strait of Hormuz on 10 March 2026 as CENTCOM struck Iranian naval assets involved in mining operations. The submarine's destruction was visible in CENTCOM footage released alongside the elimination of 16 Iranian minelayers. Iran operates approximately 20 Ghadir-class boats, designed for shallow-water operations in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, capable of deploying naval mines, launching torpedoes, and conducting ambush attacks against surface vessels.
