Description
Destroyed by Israeli airstrikes at Bandar Anzali on the evening of 18 March 2026, in the first IDF strikes targeting Iran's Caspian Sea fleet. The IDF confirmed that the Air Force, guided by the Navy and Military Intelligence, struck northern Iran for the first time in Operation Rising Lion. Hamzeh was the sole corvette of Iran's Northern Fleet, homeported at Bandar Anzali. Commissioned around 2000, the vessel gained attention in 2001 when it forced a BP-chartered ship away from the disputed Alborz offshore oil field. Netanyahu claimed on 19 March that Israel had destroyed the entire Iranian fleet in the Caspian Sea.
