Description
On February 6, 2025, the French Air and Space Force transferred six Mirage 2000-5F fighter jets to Ukraine. Originally optimized for air superiority, these aircraft underwent technical modifications at the Cazaux airbase to integrate ground-strike capabilities. The platforms are equipped to deploy MICA air-to-air missiles in both Infrared (IR) and Electromagnetic (EM) variants, offering "fire and forget" functionality. Beyond their interception role, the modified airframes are expected to support advanced munitions such as SCALP-EG cruise missiles or AASM guided bombs. Ukrainian pilots, trained in France, are currently conducting final systems integration and airfield compatibility tests to achieve full operational status.
