Description
On March 19, 2025, an Algerian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30 multirole fighter crashed shortly after takeoff from Reggane Airbase in Adrar province. The accident occurred at low altitude with full fuel tanks, leaving the crew minimal time to respond during the critical initial climb phase. While one crew member successfully ejected, the pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Bakkouch Nasr, was killed in the crash. This represents the second loss of a Su-30 airframe in Algeria since January 2020. Military authorities have initiated a technical investigation to determine the specific causes behind the failure of the Russian-made aircraft.
