Description
On January 28, 2026, Russia lost a Su-34 Fullback fighter-bomber, an aircraft frequently used for launching guided aerial bomb attacks across Ukraine. The loss was first reported by Russian military bloggers Kirill Fyodorov and the pro-war Telegram channel Fighterbomber, before being confirmed by Ukraine's General Staff. Andriy Kovalenko, Head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, stated the aircraft was reportedly downed over the Black Sea near the Odesa region. Russian aviation activity in the Black Sea remains constant, with aircraft conducting patrols and countering Ukrainian sea drones. The crew's fate has not been confirmed by either side.
