Description
A Republic of Korea Air Force KAI T-50 Golden Eagle trainer jet flipped upside down on the runway at Gwangju Air Base on 2 January 2026 after an anti-skid system malfunction during an emergency landing. The instructor pilot had initiated emergency procedures after an engine warning light illuminated during a training flight. Upon touchdown, the anti-skid system failed to activate, causing the landing gear tires to burst and the aircraft to overturn on the runway. Both crew members escaped uninjured. The ROKAF temporarily grounded its T-50 fleet for inspection before resuming flights on 8 January. The aircraft sustained substantial damage and is considered a likely write-off.
