Description
The Israeli Air Force struck the 8th Tactical Fighter Base near Isfahan International Airport overnight, targeting aviation infrastructure and aircraft storage areas housing Iran's remaining F-14A Tomcat fleet. The IDF announced the operation on March 8, claiming the precision strikes eliminated all F-14 aircraft at the installation, effectively ending Iran's Tomcat program. The base was home to the 81st, 82nd, and 83rd Tactical Fighter Squadrons. Prior to the strike, an estimated 15 to 20 airframes remained at Isfahan following losses sustained during the June 2025 Twelve-Day War.
