Description
Israeli strikes on Isfahan 8th Tactical Air Base destroyed several of Iran remaining F-14 Tomcats, the last airworthy examples of the type anywhere in the world. Commercial satellite imagery from Vantor dated 9 March showed at least two and more likely three destroyed Tomcats, including one on the alert pad and another beside the hardened shelters, with a large scorch mark where a third had previously been parked on a taxiway. A pre-strike image from 22 February had shown five F-14s at the base, believed to host the entire surviving fleet. The same imagery revealed at least ten destroyed F-7 fighters along the taxiways.
