Description
Israeli Air Force strikes on Mehrabad International Airport in Tehran on March 7, 2026, destroyed at least three Boeing 747 aircraft belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force. Satellite imagery analyzed by Soar and OSINT researchers on March 9 confirmed the destruction. The aircraft were used for strategic cargo transport and aerial refueling missions. One of those destroyed was reportedly the world's last operational KC-747 tanker, a Boeing 747-131F that had served as a unique asset in Iran's military airlift capability. The IDF stated the airport served as a central hub for the IRGC Quds Force to supply proxy forces across the region.
