Description
An Iranian Air Force P-3F Orion maritime patrol aircraft was destroyed on the ground at Kerman's Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani Airport by USAF precision strikes. Iran operates only a handful of P-3F Orions, originally delivered by the United States in the 1970s, making this loss particularly significant to the country's maritime surveillance and anti-submarine warfare capabilities. CENTCOM released strike footage on March 11 showing the Orion being set ablaze by precision-guided munitions. The P-3F fleet is Iran's primary long-range maritime patrol platform, used for monitoring naval activity in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
