Description
An Ilyushin Il-76 strategic transport aircraft was destroyed by a US airstrike at Shahid Dastgheib International Airport in Shiraz, southern Iran. CENTCOM released footage on 5 March 2026 confirming the destruction of multiple aircraft sheltered in a hangar at the dual-use airport, which also hosts a military air base. Satellite imagery from open-source analysts corroborated the loss of the Il-76 alongside two C-130 Hercules and two Su-22 fighter-bombers.
