Description
Base aérienne 110 Creil, also known as « Lieutenant-colonel Guy de La Horie », is located in Creil, Oise, France. Its use for aviation dates back to 1910, with early aerial reconnaissance activities in 1914. The site was used by tourism aviation in 1938 and became a military airfield in 1939. From 1940 to 1944, it was requisitioned and developed by the German Air Force. A modern air base for the French Air Force was constructed between 1951 and 1958, officially opening as Base Aérienne 110 on June 1, 1954, with the 10th Fighter Wing stationed there on Vampire aircraft. Over the years, it hosted various fighter aircraft including Mystère IIC, Mystère IVA, Super Mystère B2, Vautour IIN, Mirage IVA, Mirage IIIC, and Mirage F1C. The 10th Fighter Wing was dissolved in 1985, and the base was placed on standby until its reopening on March 1, 1990. In 1993, the transport squadron 1/62 Vercors was created, operating Casa CN-235 aircraft.
In 2014, a ministerial decision announced the closure of the aeronautical platform. Permanent aeronautical activity ceased on August 31, 2016, and the runways were closed. The transport squadrons 1/62 Vercors and 3/62 Ventoux were transferred to Base Aérienne 105 Évreux-Fauville. The former aeronautical area has been converted into a photovoltaic farm. As of September 2024, Base Aérienne 110 Creil officially lost its status as an air base and became the Pôle Interarmées de Creil-Senlis.
Despite the closure of its runways, the site continues to host various military units and inter-service organizations. These include the Escadron de transport 3/60 Esterel, whose aircraft (Airbus A310 and A330) are stationed at Paris-Charles-de-Gaulle Airport, the Centre national de ciblage 34/664, the Centre militaire d'observation par satellites (CMOS) 1/92 Bourgogne, and the Escadron de transit et d'accueil aérien (ETAA). It also hosts the Élément Air de Contrôle Aéroport de Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle (EACA CDG 61.110) and the Équipe de marque des programmes spatiaux. Inter-service organizations present include elements of the Direction du Renseignement militaire (DRM), the Centre de formation interarmées au renseignement (CFIAR), the Centre de Formation et d'Emploi relatif aux Émissions Électromagnétiques (CF3E), the Centre de formation et d’interprétation interarmées de l'imagerie (CF3I), the Centre de Recherche et d'Analyse du Cyberespace (CRAC), the Unité française de vérification (UFV), and the Établissement géographique interarmées (EGI). The site also maintains support units like a Groupement de soutien de la base de défense (GSBDD) and an Unité du Service d'Infrastructure de la Défense (USID).
