Description
Capitán FAP José A. Quiñones González International Airport is located in Chiclayo, Peru, serving as the primary airport for the Lambayeque Region. The installation is named in honor of José Quiñones González, a Peruvian Air Force pilot who died during the Ecuadorian-Peruvian War in July 1941. While the facility is managed by the private airport operator ADP, it is also utilized by the Peruvian Air Force (FAP).
The base hosts Escuadrón Aéreo 612, designated as Fighter Squadron 612 "Fighting Cocks." This unit functions as one of two air superiority and interceptor squadrons maintained by the Peruvian Air Force. The installation operates MiG-29 aircraft. Infrastructure at the site includes blast shelters designed for the housing of the squadron’s aircraft.
