Description
Phan Thiet Airport is located in Thien Nghiệp, Phan Thiet, Binh Thuan Province, Vietnam. The project was approved in 2009, with construction initially commencing in 2015. Following a suspension of activity, the Vietnam Ministry of Defense resumed construction in April 2021. The military sector of the airport commenced operations in 2024.
The facility serves as a level 1 military airport for the Vietnam People's Air Force (VPAF). It hosts the 915th and 920th Air Training Regiments, which are trainer units operating under the Air Force Officers College. The 920th Regiment relocated its personnel and aircraft to the base from Cam Ranh International Airport in July 2024. The airport is used for flight training and technical testing, with the 918th Transport Regiment having conducted calibration flights to verify airfield equipment.
The base occupies 543 hectares and is designed as a mixed-use facility. Infrastructure includes a 5,000-square-meter terminal. The airport hosts units operating Yak-52 and T-6C Texan II fixed-wing trainers, as well as Mi-8 helicopters. The first T-6C Texan II aircraft were delivered to the VPAF at this location in November 2024.
