Description
Rafael Núñez International Airport is located in the Crespo neighborhood of northern Cartagena, Colombia, positioned between the Caribbean coast and the Ciénaga de la Virgen marsh. The facility is named after Rafael Núñez, a former president of Colombia.
The airport serves the Caribbean port city of Cartagena and is the largest facility in Colombia's northern Caribbean region by passenger volume. Since March 1, 2024, OINAC S.A. has administered the facility under a 10-year contract. Civil operators at the airport include Avianca, LATAM Colombia, LATAM Perú, American Airlines, Copa Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, and Wingo. International services connect the facility to destinations across North, Central, and South America. European connections to Amsterdam and Zurich are maintained by KLM and Edelweiss Air via Bogotá.
Infrastructure at the facility includes three bays accessible from the runway for taxiing and take-off positioning. The airport has the capacity to house 11 aircraft and supports charter operations. The airfield is capable of accommodating modern transatlantic aircraft.
