Description
The Sokil-300 (Falcon-300) is a Ukrainian medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the state-owned Luch Design Bureau (KB Luch) of Kyiv. KB Luch first publicly unveiled the aircraft as a mock-up in November 2020, and the system made its international debut at IDEX 2021 in the United Arab Emirates. The first flight of the prototype was planned for 2021–2022, pending state funding.
The Sokil-300 has a wingspan of 14 meters and a fuselage length of 8.57 meters. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 1,225 kg and operates at altitudes of approximately 10 to 12 km, with a service ceiling of around 12,000 meters. The drone is operated by a two-person crew and uses domestically produced laser-channel, optical, and range-measuring guidance systems.
The aircraft is designed to be fitted with one of three engine options:
- The Motor Sich MS-500V (MC-500B) engine provides a maximum speed of approximately 335 km/h, a range of roughly 1,000 km, and an endurance of about 3 hours.
- The Ivchenko-Progress AI-450T2 engine provides a cruise speed near 275 km/h, a range of about 1,300 km, and an endurance of about 5 hours.
- The Austrian turbocharged Rotax 914 engine provides a cruise speed near 150 km/h, a maximum range of up to 3,300 km, and a maximum flight time of up to 26 hours.
For strike missions, the Sokil-300 has a maximum payload capacity of 300 kg. It can carry up to four guided missiles, including the Luch RK-10 and Barrier (Stugna) anti-tank guided missiles, which have a strike range of up to 10 km.
