Description

The UPAB-1500B is a Russian guided glide aerial bomb developed during the 2010s as a domestic alternative to the KAB series. It is a purpose-built precision-guided weapon rather than a kit-based modification of unguided munitions.

The system utilizes a gliding delivery profile to allow for stand-off launches from outside the range of close air defense systems. Guidance is provided by an integrated system combining inertial navigation with GLONASS satellite correction. The munition is equipped with a penetrating, concrete-piercing high-explosive warhead designed for use against hardened targets, reinforced concrete structures, and underground facilities. An export variant of the system is designated as the UPAB-1500B-E.

The weapon is operated by Russia and has seen combat use during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, where it was employed against hardened infrastructure and underground facilities.
