Description
The Jianshe Group in China developed the JS 05 anti-materiel rifle. The manufacturer designed the rifle for domestic evaluation and potential export markets.
The JS 05 is a manually operated, bolt-action rifle utilizing a rotary bolt with dual frontal locking lugs. To reduce recoil forces, the barrel is equipped with a muzzle brake and recoils inside a tubular receiver against a hydraulic buffer. The rifle features a fixed buttstock, a folding bipod, a carrying handle, and a detachable rear monopod mounted under the butt. The feeding system uses a detachable box magazine inserted horizontally from the left side above the pistol grip. The rifle does not feature open iron sights, relying instead on an integrated Picatinny-type rail for mounting telescopic or night sighting systems.
The People's Liberation Army tested the rifle during trials to select a modern anti-materiel rifle.
