Description

The PP-2000 submachine gun was developed by the KBP Instrument Design Bureau, with its patent filed in 2001 and issued in 2003. The firearm was first publicly displayed at the Interpolytech-2004 exhibition in Moscow.

This weapon features a conventional blowback-operated design and weighs 1.5 kg when empty. It is chambered in 9×19mm Parabellum and engineered to utilize the Russian 9×19mm 7N21 and 7N31 +P+ armor-piercing cartridges, while also being compatible with common 9mm Parabellum rounds. The design incorporates the ability to store a spare 44-round magazine at the rear of the weapon, where it can function as a stock. A wire folding stock option is also available. An unusual characteristic is the charging handle located directly behind the front sight, designed to fold out of the way when not in use.

Designed as a close-quarters combat weapon intended for riot police and special operations forces, the PP-2000 was adopted in 2008 as one of the two standard submachine guns used by the Russian police. In October 2023, reports indicated that the PP-2000 would become part of the survival kit issued to Russian pilots.
