Description
A Republic of China Air Force E-2K Hawkeye early-warning aircraft belly-landed and skidded off the runway in Pingtung County on 25 November 2022 after its landing gear failed to deploy, according to Taiwan News. The two-member crew was not injured, but the aircraft's electronic systems were damaged. A preliminary investigation found human error, with the crew deploying the landing gear incorrectly, the Air Force said. The Air Force also said it would not repair the aircraft, at an estimated cost of about 2 billion Taiwan dollars, and planned to use it for ground training and spare parts, pending defence ministry approval.
