Bolivian Air Force K-8 Crash

A Bolivian Air Force K-8 jet trainer came down about 100 kilometres from Cobija, in the northern department of Pando near the Brazilian border, after a fire broke out in the engine during flight. Both crew members ejected and were recovered unharmed. The K-8W is the most capable jet in Bolivian service, used for advanced flying and weapons training and for light attack and border surveillance over the country's remote northern lowlands. Bolivia operates only a handful of the type, delivered from China in the 2010s, so the loss removed a significant share of its jet training capacity.
