Description
A Guyana Defence Force Bell 412EPi lost contact about an hour after leaving Base Camp Ayanganna in Georgetown on a flight to the country's western border region, and was found the following day in forest roughly thirty kilometres east of Arau. Five of the seven servicemen aboard were killed and two survived. The Air Corps commander said the helicopter carried a terrain awareness and warning system, and its flight recorder was sent to the United States for analysis. The aircraft had been delivered only in July 2023 and was among the Air Corps' newest airframes.
