Israel Air and Space Force Hermes 450 Shot down

An Israeli Hermes 450 was shot down over southern Lebanon on 26 February 2024. The Israel Defense Forces said a David's Sling battery intercepted a first surface-to-air missile fired by Hezbollah at the drone, but a second missile struck the aircraft a short while later in the Nabatieh area, according to The Times of Israel. The IDF confirmed the loss shortly after the incident. Israel responded with strikes near Baalbek, deep in Lebanon's Beqaa Valley. It was the first Israeli drone confirmed lost to Hezbollah air defences since the exchanges along the border began in October 2023.
