Description
Airbus handed over the first of two A400M Atlas transports ordered by Kazakhstan at a ceremony in Almaty on 12 December 2024, after the aircraft, MSN139, was ferried from the Seville final assembly line. Kazakhstan becomes the first A400M operator in Central Asia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, joining eight other operating nations. Airbus said the aircraft would be a game changer for Kazakhstan's air defence forces, providing tactical and strategic airlift, with the ability to carry 25 tonnes of cargo or 116 paratroopers to unprepared airstrips. The second aircraft was expected in 2026.
