Burundi National Army Bell 412 Fleet Update

A Bell 412 of the Burundian contingent of the African Union mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) made an emergency landing near the village of Hawadley in Middle Shabelle region while on an evacuation task, according to Military Africa. The African Union said the landing followed a technical malfunction and involved no hostile fire; al-Shabaab claimed to have shot the helicopter down and circulated images of the wreck. All personnel on board were evacuated and recovered to a nearby base. The damaged helicopter, serial AUO-012, was abandoned in territory held by al-Shabaab and could not be recovered.
