On March 2, 2026, a second U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down over Kuwait in a friendly fire incident during Operation Epic Fury. At 11:03 p.m. ET on March 1, three F-15Es were mistakenly engaged by Kuwaiti air defenses during active combat operations involving Iranian ballistic missiles, aircraft, and drones. CENTCOM confirmed that all six aircrew from the three downed jets ejected safely and were recovered in stable condition. The jets were identified as belonging to the 335th Fighter Squadron from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. Kuwait acknowledged the incident and a joint investigation was initiated.
