Description
On March 2, 2026, a second U.S. Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle of the 335th Fighter Squadron from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base was shot down over Kuwait by a Kuwaiti F/A-18 Hornet. The engagement was part of a single friendly fire incident in which one Kuwaiti Hornet launched three missiles at three separate Strike Eagles during the confusion of simultaneous Iranian drone and missile attacks. CENTCOM confirmed that all six aircrew from the three downed jets ejected safely and were recovered in stable condition. Kuwait acknowledged the incident and a joint investigation was initiated.
