Description
Two Lockheed C-130 Hercules transport aircraft were destroyed by a US airstrike at Shahid Dastgheib International Airport in Shiraz, southern Iran. The strike, confirmed through CENTCOM footage released on 5 March 2026 and corroborated by satellite imagery, targeted aircraft sheltered in a hangar at the military section of the dual-use airport. The loss of two C-130s, alongside an Il-76 and two Su-22s destroyed in the same attack, represented a significant blow to Iranian tactical airlift capability. Iran relies heavily on its C-130 fleet for troop and equipment transport across the country and to regional partners.
