Greece's Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) approved the acquisition of three Embraer C-390 Millennium transport aircraft on 23 July 2026, in a package estimated at 600 million euros covering conversion training, initial spares, ground support equipment and a multi-year follow-on support contract, with an option for three further airframes. The deal is structured as a government-to-government agreement with Portugal, letting the Hellenic Air Force take over Portuguese production slots on Embraer's Brazilian line and pull deliveries forward to 2027-2030. The C-390s will progressively replace part of Greece's 15 ageing C-130B/H Hercules, with Hellenic Aerospace Industry taking on domestic maintenance work.
