Atlantic City Air National Guard Base

Atlantic City Air National Guard Base is an Air National Guard installation located at Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey, United States. Constructed in 1958, the base has been continuously operational since its establishment. It is owned by the Department of Defense and operated by the United States Air Force, specifically controlled by the New Jersey Air National Guard. The base shares its airfield with Atlantic City International Airport, indicating a dual civilian and military usage.

The primary unit stationed at Atlantic City Air National Guard Base is the 177th Fighter Wing (177 FW). This unit, gained by Air Combat Command (ACC), operates F-16C/D Fighting Falcon aircraft. The 177th Fighter Wing maintains dual federal and state missions. Its federal role includes augmenting the USAF, while its state mission involves providing support to New Jersey. The wing carries out Homeland Security air defense missions under the command of the Eastern Air Defense Sector, which is part of the North American Aerospace Defense Command. These missions encompass peacetime air sovereignty, air defense operations, and airborne counter-drug operations. Since October 1998, the 177th Fighter Wing has participated in various operations, including Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Southern Watch, Operation Northern Watch, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The airfield features two runways: runway 13/31, which is 3,048 meters (10,000 ft) long with an asphalt surface, and runway 4/22, which measures 1,872.6 meters (6,144 ft) and has a mixed asphalt/concrete surface.
