Description
Dolna Mitropoliya Air Base is located near Dolna Mitropoliya in the Pleven Province of Bulgaria. The facility was established as a military airbase in 1941. In 1945, an aviation school named after Georgi Benkovski was founded, which relocated to Dolna Mitropoliya in 1948. This institution was incorporated into the National Defence University in 2002.
The Bulgarian Air Force operates the installation, which hosts the 12th Air Training Wing. The base also serves as the location for the aviation faculty of the Vasil Levski National Military University. Aircraft types operated at the base include the PC-9 and the L-39 Albatros.
