Description

Gjadër Air Base is a military air base near Gjadër in Lezhë County, Albania, built against a mountainside with an extensive underground hangar system. Construction began in 1969 and the base officially opened in 1974. Flying operations ceased in 2000 after damage from the 1997 unrest and lack of repair funding, and the site is now used mainly to store retired aircraft.
