Description

Split Saint Jerome Airport is located in Kaštela, Croatia, situated 19 km from Split on the west side of Kaštela Bay. The facility occupies land in both Kaštela and the adjacent town of Trogir. Commercial aviation in the region began in 1931 at a grass airfield in Sinj and a seaplane station at Divulje. The airport was relocated to the Resnik site in the 1960s and opened on 25 November 1966. During the Croatian War of Independence and the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1990s, the facility was utilized by NATO and United Nations cargo aircraft, including the C-5 Galaxy, C-130 Hercules, MD-11, and Boeing 747.

Split Airport Ltd. operates the facility, which serves as a seasonal base for Croatia Airlines. The airport hosts operations for several commercial carriers, including easyJet, Volotea, and Wizz Air. Croatia Airlines operates a fleet that includes Airbus A220 aircraft from the site.

The infrastructure includes a terminal complex expanded in 2019 and a refurbished terminal building originally opened in 1979. The apron, updated in 2011, incorporates parking positions and integrated sub-surface facilities housing warehouses, workshops, and offices. A sound barrier is positioned on the southern perimeter of the apron. The site also includes an underground military hangar facility at Divulje. Ground transport links include an enclosed bridge connecting the terminal to a bus terminal and rental car facilities, as well as ferry services to the Port of Split and nearby islands.
