Description
Yelahanka Air Force Station is an Indian Air Force airfield located in Yelahanka, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. Its primary role is to train pilots for transport aircraft and conduct type-conversion training for navigators on the Antonov An-32. The station also provides logistics support as directed by Air Headquarters and Training Command. Since 2013, Mi-8, An-32, and Dornier aircraft have been stationed at the base. It previously hosted a HAL Tejas aircraft squadron before its relocation to Sulur Air Force Station. The base is also known for hosting Aero India, a biennial air show. Historically, the site was known as Royal Air Force Yelahanka (RAF Yelahanka) and hosted various RAF squadrons during World War II, including No. 5, 11, 30, 42, 45, 47, 60, 79, 84, 110, 113, 123, 134, 135, 146, 152, 211, 258, 261, and 684 Squadrons, as well as No. 1302 Flight.
