United Kingdom Navy HMS Montrose Retired

The Royal Navy decommissioned the Type 23 frigate HMS Montrose (F236) on 17 April 2023 at a ceremony in Portsmouth, according to Euro-SD and Forces News. She was the eighth Duke-class frigate to enter service, in June 1994, and spent her last four years deployed almost continuously in the Gulf and Indian Ocean, the Royal Navy said. Euro-SD reported that she would be replaced by one of the five Type 31 frigates under construction.
