Description
Vard handed over the offshore patrol vessel KV Bjørnøya, second of three Jan Mayen-class ships, to the Norwegian Coast Guard on 1 November 2023 at Vard Langsten in Tomrefjord, where she was also christened, according to Naval News. The Norwegian Coast Guard is organisationally part of the Norwegian Navy. The new class succeeds the ageing Nordkapp-class OPVs in Coast Guard service.
