Spain Navy Antares Retired

The hydrographic survey ship Antares (A-23) was decommissioned at Puntales Naval Station in Cádiz on 16 February 2024 after 50 years of service, defensa.com and the Spanish Navy reported; the ceremony was presided over by the Admiral commanding the Cádiz Arsenal. Built by Bazán and commissioned in 1974, she was the third of the four Castor-class survey ships and the last in service. Her decommissioning order earmarked the hull for use as a target in live-fire exercises.
