Description
Natya-class (Project 266M) sea minesweeper destroyed overnight on 19 May 2024 by U.S.-supplied ATACMS ballistic missiles in Crimea. The Ukrainian Navy confirmed the destruction alongside Karakurt-class corvette Tsiklon in the same strike. Kovrovets was a 750-tonne minesweeper commissioned in the Soviet era, equipped for contact and influence mine clearance. Her loss further eroded the Black Sea Fleet's mine countermeasures capability at a time when naval mines posed an increasing threat in the northwestern Black Sea.
