India Navy INS Brahmaputra Damaged

A fire broke out aboard the guided-missile frigate INS Brahmaputra on the afternoon of 21 July 2024 while she was undergoing maintenance at the Naval Dockyard in Mumbai, the Indian Navy said. After the fire was brought under control the following morning, the ship developed a heavy list to port and partially capsized alongside with her mast resting on the quay, Maritime Executive reported; the Navy said one junior sailor was missing, and Indian media later reported that he had died. The Navy ordered an inquiry, and the accumulation of firefighting water was considered a likely factor in the loss of stability. The frigate was subsequently righted for repair.
