Description
CSBC delivered the rescue and salvage ship Da Wu (ARS-571) to the Republic of China Navy on 23 October 2024 at its Kaohsiung shipyard, Naval News reported. The 87-metre, 3,250-tonne ship has all-electric propulsion with dynamic positioning, an 18-knot speed, a towing capacity of more than 30,000 tonnes and up to 100,000 tonnes, a remotely operated vehicle rated to 500 metres and a diving bell reaching 100 metres. She replaces the Navy's ageing rescue and salvage ships and ocean tugs, all built and commissioned in the 1940s and acquired from the US Navy decades ago, according to the same report.
