Description
The Alkmaar-class (Tripartite) minehunter HNLMS Makkum (M857) was decommissioned by the Royal Netherlands Navy on 25 November 2024 after roughly four decades of service, Naval News reported. The Netherlands confirmed in April 2026 that the ship would be handed over to Ukraine once crew training was complete, and the Ukrainian naval ensign was raised aboard her at a transfer ceremony on 15 June 2026, under the name Henichesk. Makkum followed her sister Vlaardingen, transferred to Ukraine in June 2025 as Melitopol.
