Description
The coastal minehunter HMAS Gascoyne (M 85) was decommissioned at HMAS Waterhen in Sydney on 5 December 2024, the Royal Australian Navy announced. She had sailed through Sydney Heads for the last time in November, flying her decommissioning pennant, after 23 years of service, the Department of Defence reported. Commissioned in June 2001, Gascoyne was the fourth of the six Huon-class minehunters and the second to retire in 2024, after the lead ship Huon.
