Description
INS Tushil (F70), a Project 11356M frigate of about 4,000 tonnes, was commissioned into the Indian Navy on 9 December 2024 at the Yantar shipyard in Kaliningrad, in a ceremony attended by India's Defence Minister, Naval News reported. The ship carries about 26 percent Indian-made content, including BrahMos missiles, sonar and surface surveillance radar, and her machinery develops 44,000 horsepower. She and sister ship Tamal, then fitting out at the same yard, had originally been laid down for the Russian Navy and were redirected to India after Ukrainian sanctions cut off their gas turbine supply, according to the same report.
