Description
The UAE Naval Forces commissioned the corvette Al Emarat (P111) on 7 February 2025, the second Gowind-class unit ordered from Naval Group after Bani Yas. The ship had been handed over in France in June 2024 before transiting to the Gulf. Displacing about 2,500 tonnes, the Gowind design combines a stealth-optimised hull with the SETIS combat system, Exocet MM40 anti-ship missiles, VL MICA surface-to-air missiles and a hull-mounted sonar. The commissioning was announced around NAVDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi alongside a support contract signed with the builder.
